Configure Service Name for Databricks Spark Plugin#

By default, in Privacera Portal, all the policies get enforced that are defined in privacera_hive under Access Management > Resource Policies. You would want to change the default service name, privacera_hive, to a name of your choice, and enforce all the policies defined under this new service name.

In Privacera, the service name follows a pattern for its naming, which is as follows:

  • For Hive, it is CLUSTER_NAME_hive.
  • For S3, it is CLUSTER_NAME_s3.
  • For ADLS, it is CLUSTER_NAME_adls.
  • For Files, it is CLUSTER_NAME_files.

where CLUSTER_NAME is the variable that has a default value, privacera, assigned to it. To add your customized name, you need to change the value of this variable

To customize a new service name as per your need, then do the following:

  1. In Privacera Portal, under Access Management > Resource Policies, create repositories with your customized name. For example, create new repositories with the following names:

    • dev_hive

    • dev_s3

    • dev_adls

    • dev_files

  2. Run the following command.

    vi ~/privacera/privacera-manager/output/databricks/ranger_enable.sh

    Modify the following property. By default, its value is CLUSTER_NAME=privacera. Change this value as shown.

    CLUSTER_NAME=dev

  3. Restart the cluster which is pointing to updated init script.
